If you have loved someone and they were unable to reciprocate that love, pleaded for a job and never got the call back, wanted to walk out of the hospital yet the doctor would not or could not release you then you have experienced, “NO”. It can be disappointing and even devastating. In fact, it usually comes with an emotional sting attached to it. When you feel that you have done all that you can and been all that God has asked, the expectation is to hear “YES” when you have travailed and petitioned God for something.
Truth is that a “YES” from the Lord is not entirely based on your work or your obedience as many suppose, but on His vision. It is determined by what He is able to see and determine is best for His purpose and plans for each of us. As incredibly eager we are to marry those things we petition Him for, God is able to see when something better, someone more relevant, something more vastly integral is called for. I was a spoiled pre-teen and teen. I slammed a door or two when I was told “NO”. I regret those displays of immaturity and selfishness. As a kingdom child I have learned now to celebrate when I do not get “my way! “
I discovered that I could go on in spite of the “NO” just like the Apostle Paul who was denied a petition that God remove the thorn from his side (2 Corinthians 12:8). It was possible and even empowering, because I also recognized that God would gain glory in it. I learned to celebrate in the “NO” because in death or life, God has a blessing in store for me that falls right behind it. Shades of Kool and the Gang, learn to praise God, learn to dance in “NO”. Behind “NO” is greater life, greater love, bigger house, bigger pay, bigger territory, reward that abounds. Learn to dance in the “NO”!
